{ Chipotle Bean Burgers & Mango Habanero Yougurt }

I have shared countless veggie burger recipes like Mushroom, Kale & Lentil Burgers, Simple Black Bean Burgers,  Cheesy Black Bean Burgers and more…but every time I try a new recipe or cooking process, I want to share it with you all.

Here is a quick recipe for Chipotle Black Bean & Sweet Potato Burgers topped with Mango Habanero Yogurt! Do I have your attention? Let’s cook!

{ ingredients }


  • 2 15 oz. can of black beans, drained
  • 1/2 large sweet potato, peeled and quartered
  • 1/2 cup unsalted pumpkin seeds (or any nut or seed)
  • 2 Tbs. olive oil
  • 1/2 red onion
  • 1/4 cup old style oats
  • 1 Tbs. chipotle chili powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup wheatgerm (optional for extra crunch)


  • 1 1/2 cups plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 habanera, seeds removed
  • 1 mango, peeled and cubed
  • 4 green onions, cleaned and chopped
  • Juice and zest from one lime
  • Plenty of course sea salt to taste

 { directions }


  1. Add onion, seeds and sweet potato to a food processor and pulse until well chopped.
  2. Add to a pan and drizzle with olive oil. Cook until onions are fragrant and sweet potato is cooked thought, stirring often.
  3. While the vegetables simmer, add beans and oats to a bowl. Smash beans about 50%-75% and set aside.
  4. When veggies are cooked, set aside to cool a bit and stir in chipotle and add salt and pepper to taste.Add in beans.
  5. Using your hands, form patties (and roll to coat in wheatgerm if using). Cook on grill, griddle or skillet until lightly browned and crispy on both sides. Serve on a lettuce wrap, toasted bun or on their own, and top with your favorite condiments.


  1. Add all ingredients to a food processor and pulse until smooth. Taste and add salt and/or more lime if needed).
  2. Serve with burgers and enjoy!

Makes about 6 burgers.
