Simple Bean Burger

{ Simple Bean Burger }

I have shared many veggie burgers before,  but as a vegetarian, this is a staple in my house.

I have previous posted a standard black bean burger, a cheesy black bean burger and my all-time favorite vegetarian burger (this lentil, mushroom, kale burger)!

Here is a recipe for a simple bean burger with black beans, garbanzo beans, onion and herbs. For this veggie burger recipe, I simply added all the ingredients to the food processor! Too easy and tasty not to share!

{ ingredients }

  • 1 15 oz. can of black beans, drained
  • 1 15 oz. can of garbanzo beans, drained
  • 1/2 red onion
  • 1/4 cup plain breadcrumbs (could be replaced with panko breadcrumbs to be GF)
  • 1/4 cup old style oats (could be replaced with panko breadcrumbs to be GF)
  • 1 1/2 Tbs. dijon mustard
  • 1 1/2 Tbs. balsamic vinegar
  • 3 Tbs. fresh herbs (I used oregano and basil)

 { directions }

  1. Add all ingredients to a food processor and pulse until combined, and almost all of the beans are mashed.
  2. Using your hands, form patties and cook on grill, griddle or skillet until lightly browned and crispy on both sides. Serve on a lettuce wrap, toasted bun or on their own, and top with your favorite condiments.
  3. Enjoy! Yum!

Makes about 6 burgers. 250 calories per patty.
