{ Herb & Brown Butter Sauce }

And a departure from anything too healthy…I thought I’d share my simple brown butter sauce with you all. This is one of my quickest and easiest sauces for pasta, and I serve it all through the fall with butternut and pumpkin ravioli! Here is a recipe for an easy brown butter sauce with herbs.

{ ingredients }

  • 1 stick of unsalted grass-fed butter
  • 1 shallot, peeled and minced
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • Juice from 1 lemon
  • A handful of fresh herbs, chopped (I prefer a mixture of sage, oregano, basil, thyme and parsley, but any fresh herbs will do)
  • Fresh ground pepper

 { directions }

  1. In a saucepan, over medium heat, add butter, shallots and garlic. Stir until butter melts and begins to brown just a bit, about 3 to 4 minutes. Remove the froth as needed.
  2. Lower the heat and stir in herbs, lemon juice and pepper and cook for another few minutes.
  3. Either add your al dente pasta directly to the pan or splash sauce over the top of pasta and serve immediately.
  4. Enjoy! Yum!

Makes about 4 servings. Shown here with fresh butternut squash ravioli from the farmers market. If you are not nut-free like me, I would highly suggest topping with toasted walnuts or pecans!
